Field Report Friday: KEEPING YOUR END OF THE DEAL
This week we have a story of failure turned success that illustrates a few different principals of Strategic Sorcery. Before I give my commentary, this is Tania Dakka:
Tania’s Field Report
April 11, 2019. I met with Jason Miller to uncovered what was “going wrong” in my magic. As a student of Sorcery of Hekate, Strategic Sorcery, and just about anything else he writes that I can get my hands on, I can tell you, I am the novice of novices. And since the Sorcery of Hekate course started, I found myself in a whole new world. One, that I am completely blind to. I don’t get visions. I don’t “hear” things. I do sometimes find myself “knowing” stuff. And seeing weird patterns.
So, I wanted to find out, why all my worlds had flipped upside down since starting this stuff. Like not in the best way, either. What was I doing wrong? I felt like I was operating in a vacuum, things that were once easy, became hard. It was painful. And I had reached a point where I was going to say, screw it all.
In our consultation, Jason Miller prescribed what I should do. And, I must say, my stomach turned when he said to “throw down the gauntlet”. I thought, “I can’t threaten the gods with not continuing my study if I don’t get my way!” He laughed and reminded me that I can’t keep it up if it’s not working for me.
Then, something I said just casually crossed my lips. “I did the Helios/Hekate Global Rite. And I said, I wanted to make the highest income I’ve ever made this year (I’ve been doing very well working my full time career as a part time job, raising three kids and carrying a team of employees, but now I wanted to step things up a bit). But I didn’t DO the work.”
He said, “THAT’S your problem! You made an oath to the gods and you didn’t uphold your end of the deal!”
SHIT. I knew when I’d read that line in the global rite about “make sure you do what you say you are going to do” that I was about to screw my shit up. I KNEW it.
And that’s what I did.
SO, with fear in my chest that I’d not be able to complete my Hekate studies after this, I made my offering and my pleas. Along with the rest of his instructions (bound by the secrecy of the Sorcery of Hekate course…), thinking “Shit. I’m done.”
But when I made my declaration and my apology. I knew I wanted to continue on to Heka2. And she (and Jupiter) pulled through. Less than two weeks in.
After making the offering that day, I put my ass in high gear…marketing the way I needed to market to call in new clients, but not only new clients, a new caliber of clients in new niches (as we talked about in our consultation).
I found myself surrounded by prospects of completely different industries than what I’ve been in and the situation completely resolved, new clients, new levels of work, new gigs, new hope. The magic Jason prescribed worked. Not only had I made new connections, I closed four deals in a matter of days. Four deals that pushed the week’s totals well over the goal I had set for this working.
And the best part about all this magic? Besides unlocking me and the things I was working for, the “vision” I didn’t have before are starting to show up a bit more! It’s CRAZY. Thank you, Mr. Miller. Thank you.
My Notes
Principal 1: Magic works best when it is linked to new actions on your part. This all falls under my rule of “Make your Life Enchantable”. Yeah, you can apply spells and rituals to the same thing over and over again but the results will probably be less than spectacular. Especially in business, it is best to link new magic to new effort. In this case Tania set some very firm and hard to reach financial goals at a Global Rite, but didn’t follow up with any new effort.
Principal 2: If an approach or a project is doomed to a slow failure, magic will sometimes speed this up. Slow death can be hard to recognize and can lead to years of investing treasure and time into something that is unsalvageable. In this case, Tania’s business was a good one, but her target market was slowly disappearing. She needed to shift gears at WHO she was reaching out to. When she did this, the magic that she had been throwing at her business had something real it could work with, leading to success.
Principal 3: ALL Magic involving spirits is a pact and pacts work both ways. In the Hekate/Helios Global Rite folks are laying out a petition related to what they are working on for the year. The offerings made at the rite are only part of the pact, the other part is your end of the work. If you kick back and wait for Gods to rain cash and swag for doing the same thing you did before the rite, you might be waiting a long time.
Principal 4: Don’t be afraid to be firm with the Gods. I am not one for torturing saints or spirits, but I do believe in being firm with what you need. In this case when Tania reported that she was doing stuff from my classes and life was getting worse in unsustainable ways, my first advice was “tell the powers involved you will stop doing these things if they don’t turn around”. The fact that they were my classes doesn’t matter. If it was a 1200 year old tradition, it doesn’t matter. You don’t become a Sorceress/Witch/Magician to let spirits run your life, and you don’t keep following a failing strategy in hopes that it is gonna turn around if you just believe. In this case I advised Tania to stand firm and say “We are gonna try something new for a couple months, but if that doesn’t work – I am out!” . Being frank is not the same as being arrogant.
Thank you Tania for the excellent report! Tania can be found at Bad Ass Digital Ink.
