What House M.D. Taught Me About Uncrossing

Earlier today I gave someone advice about uncrossing a client and realized that I was digging into my inner Gregory House. Here then are some other pieces of advice from the House M.D. School of Uncrossing.

  1. One or two symptoms? Probably in the patients imagination or just run of the mill bad luck. Next case please…
  2. Screw Testing – treat the patient. You dont need to divine everything. If there really is a curse or crossed conditions – treat the patient. Whether they get better or worse you will learn something useful. When you reverse the curse and the employee that they had to write up last month falls ill – there’s your divination 🙂
  3. Everyone lies. Your client is telling a story in which they did nothing to anyone and everyone is out to get them. You don’t have to call them on it all the time, but you shouldn’t fall for either.
  4. Often people want drama and attention more than a solution to their problem. You can clear up their bad luck, or illness, or whatever but lots of people will resent you if you do it without spinning some psychic soap opera where they are the central character.
  5. Following your heart is easy, following your brain is tough. Either the client needs this advice or you do.
  6. Ignore the diagnosis from old doctors. If you client thinks that 5 different people have cursed them, they have probably seen 5 workers before they saw you. Chances are that their mom, neighbor, co-worker, ex-girlfriend, and local black lodge don’t ALL give enough of a crap about them to curse them.
  7. Sometimes you fail. Not every situation has a solution where everyone wins.

Of all the posts you’ve written lately this is the one I enjoyed by far the most! Then again, maybe it’s because I watched all seasons of House MD 😀

Really good points! Especially #2 and #3.
