Not even half way through the SS book as yet but, having an apprenticeship sounds interesting — though movie images of candidates sleeping at the monastery gates until finally accepted in (or ulitmately turned away) — and spending a year or more sweeping leaves before being considered ‘ready’ to learn come to mind.

After several decades researching ‘stuff’ and doing minor mind games — actually having to *do* rituals and ceremonies seems kind of like tossing it all aside and starting back in kindergarten again. A daunting thought…
