Field Report Friday: HEKATE AND HELIOS REVEAL A TRAITOR

Sometimes magic doesn’t manifest as straightforwardly as we think it will. I am sure that when Maureen set out her petitions for Hekate and Helios for her business to be more profitable and of better assistance, that she expected the ritual to bring in more clients and maybe improve their methods. She did not expect her closest assistant to be revealed as a thief and a traitor. That’s the awesome thing about Sorcery, sometimes it changes the things you didn’t know needed changing. 

FIELD REPORT: HEKATE AND HELIOS REVEAL A TRAITOR

Before midnight on January 2nd I performed the Hekate rite at night before bed and Helios rite the next morning shortly after waking. I manage a behavioral health clinic and asked for help making my practice more profitable and to be of best assistance to those we serve. I had recently moved out of state in order to open another branch and had my trusty assistant watching over things at the “home” branch.

Well, within 2 days of the rite, I got a call from a creditor about some missing money. Without going into a lot of details, I found out my “trusty assistant “, whom I had known and considered a best friend for 15 years, was discovered to be not so trusty. She was using money from the business for personal expenses as well as other types of financial fraud and malfeasance that could have blown back on my business if left unchecked.

Once I decided to fire her employees began stepping up to let me know things that she was doing that I had no idea about that were understandably making their work experiences less than fulfilling. I have worked hard to be a good employer and people have always seemed to want to work for us. Our turn over rate is way under the industry standard, so to me this is a very serious breach of trust.

While I am brokenhearted, I am also grateful to find out what I did before the damage got much worse.  Apart from the theft my employees were afraid to tell me because “she is your friend”. I thought her leaving was going to be horrible on morale but as it turns out, people got promotions to fill in her place, and they now know that I will be fair with them, other relationships be damned… it seems that morale, which I thought was alright before, has improved significantly.. people are pulling together to get more problems she kept hidden fixed.

In the end I decided to err on the side of mercy, and not to file criminal charges. All week long I kept hearing the Shakespearean quote “the quality of mercy is not strained but falleth as the gentle rain from heaven…” .

While this was painful, it was necessary to address  and I’m glad to have Hekate and Helios on my side!

Maureen has a great daily practice, and also knows how to apply sorcery to problems that arise. Sometimes though our regular practice just keeps the status quo, and we don’t know that we need to apply magic to a problem until it’s too late. This is why, in addition to daily practice, I like seasonal or monthly workings that can shake things up if needed. In this case the Hekate – Helios Global Rite did the trick and revealed an enemy in the midst.
