HOW TO BUY MY BOOK

Some people wonder how I prefer people to purchase my books. Here is my list in descending order:

1. From an Occult Bookstore. If you have one, you should support it. Tell them to get the book in, and while you are at it tell them to invite me out there to speak 🙂

2. From another brick and mortar location. Yes, even B&N. I live in an area of NJ that had  three bookstores within 20 miles just 3 years ago. Now we have NONE. The nearest B&N is 25 miles away and if they close, the game is over for being able to run out and grab a book somewhere.

3. Amazon.com, B&N.com, or another online seller. Even though I support the local store, the reality is that the book will probably be $5 cheaper online. If you have Amazon prime shipping is free. When buying five or six books at a time it is hard to turn away from saving 30-50 bucks just to buy it in a bookstore. Plus you can pre-order my book online.

It will also be available in Kindle, Nook, Kobo, and Sony formats as well as library and wholesaler formats. Kindle and Nook should be complete by the official release date on 7/23.

The one place you cannot buy my book is through my website. Its just too much hassle for me to deal with packaging and shipping. I will sell my book in person when I do lectures and workshops but that is it.

I vote for Chapter 6, “Your Set Point.”

Thanks, BTW. Looking forward to whatever sample you finally provide. (And to buying the book.)

I think “emergency magic”, since that should provide quick results. That way, once people see results, they’ll know you’re for real, and buy your book(s). 🙂

Jason, I’ve always liked how you express the idea that material things are not unspiritual, and in fact can support the person striving for the spiritual. I’m assuming that’s what chapter 2 is about, and for that reason I recommend putting out a sample of that. Pairing the material and the spiritual – and not forsaking either one – is IMHO an important concept that should grow a little more.

I vote for chapter 2, so those new to money magic can get a good perspective on the spirit of money.

From looking over the titles I think chapter 7 would be one of the more interesting ones at this point .

Hmm, tough call…

But I’d say chapter 7 (which I hope to never have to file… especially after reading and using the book). 🙂

I vote for “Entrepreneurial Magic”.

Emergency magic is dumb, and it usually resets probabilities. But if the solution to an emergency is improbable, it’s better to be working on creating a long-term solution. And long-term solutions take entrepreneurship these days.

I agree! Entrepreneurial Magic! Not just because I run my own business, but because it’s time to realize that as the world crisis seems to get deeper to be able to generate income from personal business and effort may be the only viable alternative for a lot of people.

I vote for “Promotion Magic” or “Entrepreneurial Magic”. But it’s a tight on-the-fence thing for me. Here’s why:

Promotion Magic:
It might be safe to say that a lot of people in their current position (whether it’s an office job atmosphere or otherwise) are either excelling or facing some sort of struggle when it comes to keeping their job or advancing. Majority of people out there have these kinds of jobs in varying levels of competitiveness. The general consensus now is that the job market is also extremely competitive (depending on regions of course). So, promotion magic – which can also be used, I presume, to *keep* a job – would be a good sample reading for those just dabbling in magic and those whose interest might be piqued just by reading such a thing.

Entrepreneurial Magic may satisfy the reader who is truly about creating their own world, who is probably already inclined to drift toward “unusual” methods of having an edge in the first place. Or they might already have their own businesses.

I would say that if the goal is to get people who wouldn’t normally spring for an occult perspective on the subject of finances, Promotion Magic would be good. That’s where a lot of people are at right now – in some sort of job. And if they use the Promo Magic, they might make more money to create a monetary cushion. Then they can make use of the Entrepreneurial Magic portion to springboard themselves into an independent situation. If they buy the book.

A lot of people need to think in steps, and if there is going to be a first step they’re going to think “financial security – then venture out!”. Would be a good excerpt if you’re trying to display to the “practical strategy” tone of the book. Even better if you had at all mentioned “Entrepreneurial Magic” in the Promotion Magic chapter.

Depends what you’re going for.

promotion magic. Have you ever been out to CO? I’m talking to my local magic shop, Full Moon Books in Lakewood.

I have been to Denver, but just to visit friends for a weekend. If you can get enough people to commit, and the store to get in touch with me, I am sure I can work something out to get out there for a weekend intensive.

I would like a chapter that showcases your style of magic (I expect a book on financial magic to have lots of practical money management skills, but I want to get a feel for the magical style). Also, a chapter that will allow me to do a test run on your methods without the rest of the book as context, to test the efficacy of your methods for me.

Thanks!

Chapter 6 or chapter 7. I think both would be particularly appropriate for those of us who don’t have traditional employment.

I vote for (1) Promotion Magic – as we all need to promote ourselves either to get a job or to sell someone on our ideals. (2) Entrepreneurial Magic or (3) Job Finding Magic as close 2nd and 3rd.

What are your requirements for making an appearance for a workshop/intensive? There’s a couple occult shops in the Youngstown area and I think it would be neat if one of them were able to host.

Reply
    inominandum

Basically when I go someplace there are two things that are important.

    1. We Must have insurance that neither I nor the host will loose money on the venture. This includes travel, expenses etc.

2.On top of that, there should be a chance of making at least as few hundred after expenses.

    Thats it. Where is Youngstown?

Is it driving distance from Jersey?

      Gotcha and very understandable.

Youngstown’s a bit of a drive from New Jersey. The city is in the (almost) very North Eastern part of Ohio near the OH/PA border. Between here and you, it’s probably a seven hour drive if you were to take I-80 West.

You made a number of fine points there. I did a search on the topic and found nearly all folks will have the same opinion with your blog.
