Nema Has Passed

I first heard of Nema through the Cincinnati Journal Of Magick, which I picked up at a Renaissance faire back in 1991 or 92. I had several magical teachers at that point, and working through my blend of GD based stuff, Rootwork, and Husonian Witchcraft. I was aware of Crowley of Crowley of course, but even that seemed old hat at this point. Reading about Nema receiving Liber Pennae Penumbra  and the work of Maat made the whole thing come alive for me in a way it wasn’t before. This was a revealed text from AFTER I was born. Nema was someone that I could travel to and meet. A few years later, I did meet her at the Summerhawk Festival in 1996.

I never joined Horus Maat Lodge, and spun away from the Thelemic view of things for the most part, but I will always be thankful to her for showing that revelation could be meaningful and modern. As I look at my own work, I am not quite sure I could have come up with the structure for my Level Up! program if I had not read and experimented with Maat Magick.

Thank you Nema for you work. Your influence was felt way beyond just the people that were active with Maat, and will remain so long after your passing.
