Six Figure Sorcery: Seven Steps

I was away in New Orleans last week, and thus mostly off-line. In the strategic sorcery group a conversation occurred in my absence that made me incredibly happy. A new student asked “Can anyone say here that they have used magic or employed methods of sorcery to make “good” money or become highly successful….as 200k a year. Is it even possible. Is sky really the limit in this practice after the hard work is done on the physical. I want to be loaded and so does my significant other. We both are on the pursuit with our businesses.”

In answer to this came a parade of students who responded firmly YES. Yes it is possible and Yes they have done it.

Several more students answered that they maybe were not making six figures, but had completely turned their financial lives around from drowning in debt to sustainable thriving, and that Strategic Sorcery was an important tool in that. Of course some more folks, most new to the work, answered that they were interested in learning how others had done this because they are not having an easy time. Since I was on vacation I promised to write more on Monday. I thought the topic might be of interest to those outside of the course, and so I wanted to post some thoughts here on the blog.

Since I make my living selling courses on magic I am careful not to talk too much about my own life and income. The whole “Look at the wealth I have from selling stuff on how to gain wealth! You can have it too by buying my stuff and following the steps!” is NOT my bag. I really can’t stand the douchebag who sells courses bragging about how me makes money while he sleeps…blah blah blah.

I have however helped more than a handful of people get to this level, and consult regularly with students and clients who make way more than this. Here then are 7 steps that I think are key for using sorcery to transform hand-to-mouth living to actual wealth building.

  1. SUSTAINED EFFORT. Upgrading to six figures is not a spell that you fire and forget. It’s a sustained effort. This means regular practices that are performed daily, weekly, or monthly. Fetishes or altars that are fed over a course of years. Its like what they say about food and health: the goal is not a crash diet that lasts for a few weeks – its changing how you eat for life. It is the same with money magic you aren’t so much aiming a spell at a goal as you are changing your practice itself to accommodate the income you want to have. Sustained practice meant to support a healthy monetary trajectory will keep opening doors, increase your luck, and will already be in motion when you need something specific.
  2. GIVE A SHIT ABOUT MONEY. Think about how much time and money you spend on learning about magic. Using that as a measure, how much time do you spend learning about money or dedicated to the management of money? I don’t just mean working at your job to earn it, I mean reading books, magazines, following the market, learning personal finance techniques? Does it even measure up to 10% of the time you spend reading on magic? Strategic Sorcery is not just about learning the rules, principals, and movements of magic, but also the rules, principals and movements of whatever it is we are enchanting for. It doesnt really matter whether its money, love, health, spirituality or anything else: Give a shit about the thing that you so desperately want to achieve. This seems obvious, but it is probably the number one problem in wealth magic.
  3. MAKE SURE YOUR INCOME IS ENCHANTABLE. Are you a case worker for child services? That is AWESOME. You do great work that helps the world and my hope is that you are fulfilled by the work you do because you are not going to make 200K a year doing that. You can summon the fastest working demon in hell, but that is not going to suddenly rework the state bureaucracy. It may get you promoted, and eventually, you might get to be director of that agency, but even with magic the chances are slim. You don’t HAVE to make that amount of money to be successful in life. Some of the people that I look at as the MOST successful do not make much money at all.  If however you do decide making six figures and up is important you need to own a business or be in a line of work that pays that. Period. Again, seems obvious, but when people hear “magic” they have a way of overlooking the obvious.
  4. DO NOT ASK TO BECOME WEALTHY: This is a meaningless metric, for people, and even more so for spirits. If you are born into poverty in a first world country chances are you are already doing better than half the people on the planet. That sucks, but it’s the truth. Do not focus on the money itself, focus on the things that will get you there. Begging Tzadkiel to increase your income to 200K a year is not effective if you are currently making 50K a year. You may as well ask to win the lottery. Plot a course that could work without magic, then use magic to make sure that plan will work. This may mean a career shift, a geographical move, returning to school, and some painful sacrifices. Whenever you run up against something like this ask yourself, in 10 years will I be happier having made this sacrifice rather than staying in the exact same situation I am currently in.
  5. DO NOT INCREASE SPENDING. A lot of people feel that you need to focus on saving money when you are at lower income levels, but can spend what you want at higher levels. I think the opposite. I tell people to focus their efforts on making more money than saving money because you can only cut so much fat before you get to bone, but you can increase your income as high as your situation, sorcery, and ingenuity can take you. Chances are at lower income levels there is not much to cut, and gonzo methods like making your own toothpaste and crap like that will just eat up time better spent making money. When money increases is actually when you have to watch your spending. Once you are meeting your monthly expenses, its too easy to fritter away your income on stupid shit that gets you no-where. Honestly there should be little easily detectable visible difference in the lifestyle of someone who makes 200k a year and someone who makes 60k a year. The difference should be in paying for large purchases up front instead of financed, socking away money into the market for when times get leaner, charitable donations and good works. If you just increase your spending as your income goes up, you will wind up worse off than someone who makes half what you do, but handled their money better.
  6. KEEP MOVING. The world is more jittery than a caffeinated 6 year old. We are in a constant state of change. You are never “done”. Things that are working right now, will not be working in 10 years time. The moment you think you are as financially untouchable is the moment that you are in the greatest danger of a fall. Markets crash and so do entire industries. Sears was founded in 1893 and 100 years later it was Americas biggest retailer. UN TOUCH ABLE. This month they announced the closing of 63 more stores. In one of the the busiest malls in NJ, they vacated an entire floor and sublet it to another company like a lonely empty-nester renting out their kids room. Your own financial situation is not any more stable. Keep your eye on the ball. Use divination and your financial education to surf the waves, and keep your Sorcery aimed at the MOVEMENT of your money rather than just the accumulation of it. Like the earth itself, it is moving fast even though it feels like you are standing still.
  7. IGNORE UNHELPFUL AXIOMS. The spiritual and magical community is rife with all kinds of axioms that are not helpful when looking to build wealth. Evaluate them on their merits and ignore them when they don’t measure up. Here are a few that I personally reject:
    1. Jupiter is bad because he is the god of rich assholes who horde wealth and run and ruin the world: Nope. That would be Pluto. That’s why they call them Plutocrats. Jupiter is the god of a well run government that, at its height, was deeply concerned about the welfare of its people and with noble virtues. Besides that, who cares if you jive with Jove? Mercury is the god of commerce. Venus is the goddess of enchantment. Sol the god of mother-fucking-GOLD. There are other planets and options.
    2. Enchant for what you want to use money for, not the money itself. No thanks. While this does lead to adventurous and awesome times in your 20’s and early 30’s, couch surfing and constant uncertainty are less fun when you hit 40, and you probably still have more than half your life yet.  What about when “what you want the money for” is a nice kingsized bed and a place to call home? The advice to enchant for what you want rather than the money to do it with is just another way to avoid thinking about money.
    3. Making that much Money is un-spiritual and harmful to others. Sure if you are a Nun or a forest Hermit, devoting time to money IS less “spiritual”. If however you are spending 50 hours a week mixing colors at the paint store you are not inherently any more spiritual than the dude pulling down half a million running the hedge fund. Money just turns the volume up on everything. Use your money to spiritual and benevolent ends and it will increase rather than decrease your spiritual footprint.

Beyond those steps, the advice gets very specific to individual people and their paths. Seek consultations and advice. Keep learning – this more than anything seems to be the thing that separated the winners from losers in almost every category. The devil is in the details, and the advice I would give to someone who works as a massage therapist is not the same as I would give to a realtor. This is YOUR path and every situation is unique.

One last thing. A student once asked me to start a “six figure club” for people making that much. I flatly rejected that idea. Making more money doesn’t make you a special. It certainly doesn’t make you better than anyone else. It is also, to be frank, completely relative. I live in NJ and support a family of four making 200K, that doesn’t necessarily go as far as 70k a year will for a DINK* in South Carolina. There is no special club needed. If anything get out there and connect with people that have less than you do. Realize what the world is like for most people so that you don’t become one of these douchbags that thinks anyone who doesn’t make lots of money is lazy or just not working hard enough. Mentor someone who wants to make more  but doesn’t know where to start. Use magic to achieve your wealth, then use your wealth to do good.

Another really, really great deity/power to work with for wealth who is often overlooked is Theia Euryphaessa, the Titanic mother of Helios (and Selene and Eos). Her name, Εὐρυφάεσσα, means “The Wide Shining One”. She is the original Greek Queen of Heaven, goddess of the bright blue sky before Hera took over that role. She is also called Chryse (Χρύση), the Golden Goddess, for she gives gold its value. Pindar says of her, “Mother of the Sun, Theia of many names, for your sake men honor gold as more powerful than anything else; and through the virtue you bestow on them, O Queen, ships contending on the sea and yoked teams of horses in swift-whirling contests become marvels.” She is the glitter of gold and gems, but also the tantalizing glitter of glory.
