“The first practice that I actually was able to stick to – not just for two enthusiastic weeks as per usual.”
Rose Smith-Rowland was kind enough to share her experience with the Sorcery of Hekate course, and her most joyful depiction of our Lady. She is working now on getting prints together for sale, and will have not only this one, but other spirits from the Arcana available, so stay tuned for links to her work.
“I’m not sure I can tell you exactly what I expected Miller’s Sorcery of Magic class to be when I first came across it. I thought maybe a meditative practice with heavy Greco-Roman flavoring, perhaps a dash of hoodoo and probably a heavy side of ceremonial magic, or maybe a sort of repackaged tantra. Truth be told I was skeptical. A glimpse found in his Protection and Reversal Magic book gave me pause, though, and prompted me to take a closer look, and then a bit of a leap…
It’s the first practice that I actually was able to stick to – not just for two enthusiastic weeks as per usual. It’s been almost a full year now of pretty consistent practice.
This class was a stable thread to follow through what we’re regularly reminded are absolutely unprecedented times, a cord to slide my fingers along as I walk through a world that seems to have been dialed to the extreme in every way. It was a way to establish a new sense of balance not only in my witchcraft, but also internally. Suddenly I found space in my head for projects I’d shelved, inspiration, both artistic and witchy, now has room to land, and opportunities I previously wouldn’t have considered approaching are opening.”
This is the bit that I love hearing most from students: how this was a practice they stuck with past the beginners enthusiasm. This practices takes definite commitment and effort, and I am constantly blown away by the students who put in that work and find the result more than worth it. Also the amazing amount of students who have generated and shared art based on the course over the years is staggering.
