When the Spell Takes Years to Manifest…

Every now and then someone tells me that a spell or spirit might take years to manifest a result, but to be assured it WILL work eventually.

Sorry. Unless you are planning a coup d’etat, corporate takeover, or loosing 200 pounds – your spell failed.

The Demon is not taking it’s sweet time. The magic is not percolating. The angels are not assuring that you learn your needed lessons first: what you did simply didn’t work.

THAT IS OK

If you have been doing magic for a while, you have racked up enough success stories that your identity is not going to collapse because a spell didn’t work. If you are new, then keep at it and you will. If you have been at it for a while and you still don’t… all the more reason to get better at this, don’t you think?

It’s better to acknowledge failure than to defend magic by suggesting it could take years for you to come across that $1000 you need for rent, or the job, or the lover, or the healing. If you look squarely at your spell and say “well that shit didn’t work” you can follow it up with “I wonder why?” and then “Let’s try to get better at this and figure out what went wrong.” If you are bullshitting yourself that after 3 years that magic is gonna kick in and get your neighbor to stop naked window dancing, you will never get to examine your craft.

I once did a job spell for a friend. After like 10 months he came and said “that magic finally worked!”. I said “No. It didn’t. I am very happy you are working but I cannot take credit for that”. The average time for a job search at that time was 6-8 months. Granted he was in a field that was having a tough time but, I refuse to call that a win. In fact Divination revealed that the magic did in fact work and that because of his specialty it would have taken even longer, but you know what: not good enough. I used that experience to change a number of things I was doing, and started getting better results.

Magic is a subtle art. Instead of using the subtlety of unseen powers as an excuse to loosen your standards – take it as a challenge to be more firm and frank about it.

You will be better at what you do in the end.
