YES! I DO CARE ABOUT YOUR WORDLE GRID.

YES! I DO CARE ABOUT YOUR WORDLE GRID.

In fact, thats most of us love about Wordle. It’s not the puzzle itself, it’s the fact that we all have the same puzzle every day.

We get to talk about what our first word is and whether we try to nail down consonants or vowels first. I start with Adieu or Ouija and then try words with R,S,T,M and N that fit the vowels.

We get to share whether double letters trip us up or not. We get to laugh at each others rediculous misses against obvious answers. My friend tried “Otter” yesterday instead of “Other”.

Wordle is very WEB 1.0. We get what the internet was SUPPOSED to give us: connection through a globally available common experience.

There was a time when I could call up a friend and tell him to Google (or AltaVista) a word or phrase and look at the third result, and we would have a common experience.

Now, my experience of most of the net is completely different than yours. We get exposed to more of what we already believe and see more of what we already like, but less of anything that might challenge us or build connection with people who are not already 80% like us. It is a prison made of mirrors.
