Chaonimism and Mysticism

After my Chaonimism post I got asked about mysticism. “If you are a Chaonomist how can you also be a mystic? Neither Chaos Magic nor Animism suggest transcendence. Neither relies on Neoplatonist style emanations or hierarchy. Both Chaos Magic and Animism seem to be grounded in here and now, not ‘higher’ worlds.

It’s true that I emphasize mysticism in my teachings, but its not the esoteric world-hopping mysticism that most occultists are familiar with. I am interested more in the apprehension of reality as such. The non-dual reality where things are beheld without acceptance or rejection, where form is understood as emptiness and emptiness as form. Where the eye that beholds God is the eye of God.

I am also interested in levels of being, but these are not the higher worlds that extend upward from the earth, but simply subtler layers of what is here and now. There is no where to go. Just as you might find a model of the human body where you can peel away the skin, then the muscles, then the nerves, then the organs, and then finally the bones – I am interested in the mysticism that peels back the layers of what is here and now. There is no where else to go, just a better apprehension of what is here and now.

Hi Jason,
You used the word apprehension twice in your post but the words appreciation or comprehension seem more fitting. Was that what you really meant to use? Just want to make sure the message you wrote expresses what you intended 🙂
