Saturnus: Don’t Fear the Reaper

Saturn is a heavy force, both literally and figuratively. Its color is black, its metal is lead, it is all about restriction and death and pain right? Well, a little. But as the Dread Pirate Roberts said “life is pain highness, anyone that says differently is selling something”.

In the last few months I have run into several people who have a fear of Saturn. Two of those people go so far as to avoid invoking Saturn even though they call on all the other planets.

DO NOT DO THIS.

Saturn is a necessary force. Without it the forces of the other planets grow uncontrolled and overtake you. Many of us that have been working Jupiter heavily can attest to the “too much of a good thing” that Jove can bring when not tempered with Saturn.

Left unattended, or worse, ignored out of fear, Saturn can indeed be a terrible influence. But used skillfully Saturns bindings can aid us tremendously.

When your mind is bursting at the seams with inspiration and ideas – Saturn will help you restrict them down so you can actually focus on one of them.

When your business clients are numbering more than you can handle – Saturn will help you focus on the 20 percent that product the 80 percent return.

When overwhelmed with business instead of streamlined creativity, Saturn as god of time will help you bind yourself to what really matters.

When called to let the power of silence and solitude reveal inner and outer truth, Saturn is the power that you shall walk with.

When you are blinded to obvious downfalls by the glittering lights of good intentions and misplaced hope, Saturn will help you see difficulty and danger.

Today is the day of Saturn. Call upon the father of the father of the Gods and channel his influence in strategic and skillful ways.

And while you are doing it, you may as well use more cowbell.

So totally agree with this. Bounds and limitations are critically important. Saturn helped me say “no” to three big projects this week that aren’t in my wheelhouse — they don’t advance my core strategic goals, or help my cause at all — and because I said no to those things, three other options opened up which are much better and advance my overall mission much better.

Saturn helps set goals by putting up limits. A kingdom can be defended or expanded if you don’t know where and when to check passports and where to station your defending armies.

Agree 100%.

Saturn also teaches that we are already bound. To space, to time, to a body, to a culture, etc. Recognizing and accepting these bonds transforms them from objects of fear into the pillars of destiny.

Use more cowbell???

I find this interesting, as Saturn was actually the first planet I started working with. One thing I have found to be true is that whatever foundation that is built with the aid of Kronus, will be a foundation that doesn’t fall. It may take time, and it is slow going, but it is always one foot forward and never back.

Saturn also means the end. There is a good end and a bad end. For those who desire destruction and malevolence, there is only decay and death. The young Saturn, who believes the end is in Nothingness. For those who seek wisdom and benevolence, there is exansion of consciousness and essence, and death is merely change or transmutation from one state into another. This is the mature Saturn and him as a proper god, as next to the Infinite contains both the Alpha and Omega, beginning and end, and Saturn will ascend you to the greatest hights of transformation to become ultimately everything or the All. Both None and All though are aspects of the Transcendent beyond, which is both everything and nothing, being non-dual and having no opposite, so everyone wins in a way, there is no true death, but painful or blissful dying or change.

Saturn is a wonderful spice in the financial stew, as it not only deals with focus and systems, but also with severance. I have personally found it more useful to focus on cutting karmic weight rather than attracting new opportunities, at least at first. Instead of always trying to expand and grow, we sometimes only need to let go of our fears of success and attachment to failure. And of course, we also need to add a lot more cowbell!!

20+ years ago I dabbled in metaphysics, for reasons too complicated to elaborate here. But at one point, in a dream/OOBE interaction, a spirit, which I now recognize as Saturnian, approached me and lifted me up by my shirt collars. He had the general size and appearance of Hagrid, of the Harry Potter novels, though these novels had yet to be written. This spirit said, “I’ve been sent to tell you, (my name), that your prayers have been heard, and that you will receive all that you’ve asked for, and more. But first, some things will happen, and you’ll feel like you’ve been hit by a hurricane!” So I awoke, thinking, OK, a hurricane lasts a couple of weeks, so after a couple of bad weeks, I’ll receive everything I want and more!” Unfortunately, the “hurricane” lasted 20 years, and even more unfortunately, it lasted so long because of my own bad behavior, my negative responses to circumstances. Long story short, I feared invoking Saturn energy for many years, but when I finally dared to invoke Saturnian energies, understanding that Saturn is primarily about responsibility, rather than limitations and harmful influences…, the response to my invocation was not intimidating or threatening…, but the energy I received/visualized, as I performed the invocation, was a gentle-silky-sweet-blackness, that was not threatening in any way. I think the keyword for Saturn is “responsibility”, which is increasingly unpopular today, which might explain why Saturn is so distasteful for so many.

To follow my previous post…, I must say that the concept of “responsibility” is based on the concepts of “personal integrity” and “choice”. I think the hardest thing in life is to maintain one’s personal integrity through one’s moment-to-moment choices while maintaining harmony with conflicting factors in one’s immediate environment, and discerning when one’s personal integrity cannot be harmonized with environmental factors. This leads us to the Serenity Prayer of Alcoholics Anonymous:

God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change,

The courage to change the things I can,

And wisdom to know the difference.

One need not be an alcoholic to benefit from this wisdom.
