Hail Saint Sara La Kali!

Oh Sara La Kali,
Thrice are your mysteries.
Pagan Priestess,
Servant Saint,
Daughter of Christ and Magdalene
To you I pray
Accept this offering of water from the Ocean you so loved
As you saw the three Mary’s in your mind,
bless me and my cards with second sight.
As your dress calmed the waves and brought the Mary’s to shore,
Grant my requests on your skirt of prayer ties.
As you were baptized and blessed
Bless me with good fortune and favor.
So I may be of service, to my family, my clients, and my students
As you were of service in Gaul.
Amen

This is what I prayed this morning as I took my little statue of St Sara to the shores of the Atlantic and let the waves wash three times three over her. I then blessed my Tarot Cards with the excess water from her and performed readings in the welcoming shadow of Black Sara.

To some she was a servant of Mary Magdeline, Mary Cleopas, and Mary Salome that helped them make it to Gaul after they stood at the foot of the cross and visited the empty tomb. To others she was a Priestess of Ischari who had a vision of the Mary’s in distress and used her magic to save them. To yet others she is the Black Skinned daughter of Jesus Christ and Mary Magdelene, and the first holder of the Holy Blood. I treat her as all three. Like Cyprian, she is a saint who holds both the mysteries of the Mystical Christian tradition, and the Pagan Tradition, simultaneously. She is particularly sacred to the Romany people, who on this day take her statue to the shores of Saintes-Maries-de-la-Mer and bathe it in the ocean. Women place their hands in her skirt and tie colored scarves to her to ask for her intercession.

I am on the other side of the Atlantic, so I make due with my small ceremony.
